Mid-day Monotangle: Tink

A good New Year's resolution for Zentangle enthusiasts: a mid-day monotangle. Practice one tangle during a lunch break!

Student Tangle Sunday: Jacqueline C. (and young helper)

So pleased when students show me practices they have completed outside of class. This one was a group effort as the student introduced Zentangle to a young lady, and together they tangled for a very long time. Everyone was quite impressed with the process as well as the result. Zentangle is definitely something to share with all ages. Please spread the word to interested parties: Intro to Zentangle will be taught Friday December 12 from 7-9pm at Clayground in Worcester. Call 508-755-7776 to register. BYOB optional and pet friendly.

Intro to Zendalas November 14 at Clayground

There are still a few openings for Friday's Intro to Zendalas class at Clayground of Worcester, MA! This is an example practice with Emingle, Swarm, Marasu, Courant, Snail, and Crescent Moon.

Zentangle practice with Onamato, Zander, Flukes, and Shattuck

Test driving border tangles as overall coverage. Working "large," too.

Zentangle monotangle of Well

Finally got the lighting right in my little light box at the studio. Here is one of the newer official tangles that was on last year's list. I was not sure I would like doing it but I am hooked.

Working a rejected Zentangle string with Tripoli and Shattuck

I found this tile with a string on it that I must have pushed aside one day. I thought it was a pleasant surprise when it was finished. Here it seems like "WHITE" was my third tangle!

Back in the SwING of things with Bijou Tiles

At last I found a little time at the Clayground to make a (little) tile for myself. I used a new item called a Bijou Tile which I'm showing with a quarter to give you a clue as to its scale. There is a brand new tangle in the tile called ING, which premiered this month on the Zentangle website. It is very easy to do and it was a great contrast to Tipple.

PreZENts Winner of the Zentangle Sounds CD and tattoo!

Looks like everyone is on vacation! The drawing was conducted yesterday and the winning entry was comment 2! Sandy Hunter   August 1, 2014 at 1:47 AM My favorite birthday year was my 18th. It was just me and my mom and we spent the weekend shopping and horsing around in Maine (we lived in CT at the time). We did whatever we wanted, drove wherever we felt like driving, stayed up too late, and laughed a lot. It was a great birthday. Congratulations, Sandy! Email me with your address information and I will send these goodies out to you. Thanks for playing!

PreZENts drawing day for the Zentangle Keepsake Box!

I had twenty-six comments on the Zentangle Keepsake Box Giveaway. Thank you for sharing all of your summer fun faves. It's so hard to focus in on one, eh? So, without further adieu.... Drum roll, please! The True Random Number Generator widget has selected comment entry #6: Sherry June 19, 2014 at 12:02 PM My favorite part of summer (besides the warmth!) is the lush greenness of the trees and bushes, instead of the stark grey limbs I've lived with for 5 months, LOL. Congratulations, Sherry! Email me at apbelair@gmail.com to give me your mailing details. Enjoy the keepsake box! Thank you to all who participated and stay tuned for the next giveaway!

Student Tangle Sunday: Jess W.

Thank you for continuing to send in your Zentangle practices! I'll be doing another Intro to Black Tiles class at CC Lowell on Saturday, June 28. Choose 10-noon or 1-3pm. Watch for an Intro to Zendalas class coming in July!

Testing out Marasu, Orlique and Raddox

There are still many tangles that I have not taken for a test drive. I used these along with Fescu, and Jonqual and Knights Bridge. I was wondering how so many tangles would come together, but again I had to tell myself, "focus on the process, not the outcome." Good things happened from there forward, especially after shading with a 2B pencil.

Zentangle String study with Striping

Striping makes a great monotangle practice.

Some Lawn Fawn Thank You cards

In celebration of their Summer 2014 new stamps launch.

Student Tangle Sunday (Monday Edition): Elayne F.

I hope everyone celebrated Mother's Day in fine fashion yesterday. This morning is another piece by Elayne F. which I am sure you will all enjoy as much as I do. Stay tuned for more tangles this week!

The first PreZENts drawing is here!

I had fifteen comments on the Zentangle Puzzle Coaster Entry. Thank you and thank you even more for the eloquent and heartfelt memories that you shared about mom. It is definitely a time to reflect, eh? So, without further adieu.... Drum roll, please! The True Random Number Generator widget has selected comment entry #5: Lana Daniel May 1, 2014 at 11:27 PM My mother was a wonderful artist. She gave me the tools and the instruction to develop into the artist I am today. But most of all she passed along her genetic art/science ability that seems to "run in the family" Congratulations, Lana! Email me at apbelair@gmail.com to give me your mailing details. Enjoy the coasters! Thank you to all who participated and stay tuned for the next giveaway!

May Tangle of the Month: Rixty

Rixty is an organic tangle. That is a tangle that you can twist and turn all around your tile. It also has a number of modifications to explore. This is a monotangle using a basic Rixty. It required increased focus, but at the same time was very relaxing to practice. I started at the outer corner and worked inward, so you may be able to see tiny tweaks that I made as I continued. I actively turned the tile to keep pulling the lines straight towards me with the pen. That worked best for me. More to come.
